DEFINITION:
An entrepreneurial mindset refers to the set of attitudes, skills, and behaviors that individuals need to succeed academically, personally, and professionally. These include: initiative, risk-taking, flexibility, creativity, innovation, and problem solving.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:
-
What am I willing to risk and how can I minimize that risk?
-
With whom can I successfully partner and leverage their resources to get me where I want to be?
-
How can I control the future instead of trying to predict it?
-
How do I keep myself motivated to persevere?

REFLECTION:
A time where I exhibited an entrepreneurial mindset was when I grew my babysitting business in middle school and high school. When I was twelve, I took the initiative to take a babysitting certification class offered at the YMCA and then made business cards for myself that included contact information and my certification. I leveraged my connections with possible clients by volunteering in my church’s nursery and babysitting for family friends. I accepted the risk of babysitting for families that I was referred to that I did not know very well for the return of more income and connections. By growing my connections and establishing my pay rate backed by satisfied customers, I was able to obtain a steady income from babysitting throughout middle school and high school. Since then, I have applied an entrepreneurial mindset when finding jobs that will help me grow personally and professionally.
